Class Experience

This course is designed for the very basic beginner singer, no prior music knowledge needed. Your student will want to be familiar with the Frozen franchise, and have heard the hit songs "Let it Go," "Do You Wanna Build a Snow Man?" and "Into the Unknown." The age range is listed as 6-10, but open to all ages who can follow simple direction, interact comfortably, and are excited to sing! There is no sheet music required, only sing-a-longs with pre-recorded tracks (like interactive karaoke).
We will start the class with introductions, body and movement exercises, simple vocal warmups, and integrative character analysis. I will lead them in all exercises, both group and solo. We will talk about the main characters of Frozen (Elsa, Ana, etc) and explore their character traits using acting through singing. We will sing along with karaoke tracks for some of the main themes, leaving room for interpretation and group singing (as best as technology allows). Each session will be unique based on the learners signed up. Feel free to join any or all sections!

Learning Goals

Young students will engage with simple vocal exercises to better understand their body, breath, and movement. These exercises are designed to get your student up and moving, connecting with their senses, and feeling confident about making music.

    Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Hannah, a multidisciplinary musician. I have a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and Master of Music in Vocal Performance, both from Ithaca College, and spend my time gigging around the central NY area while teaching students of all ages and levels. I play with a variety of bands that bend the rules in exploring rock and roll, funk, r&b, folk, and jazz. I'm an all around music lover, and have experience teaching musical theater, classical, as well as jazz styles. I am passionate about bringing contemporary music making to the forefront of public school education, working with all ages on bringing authentic stylization through healthy vocal technique. I teach everything from group style lessons, private lessons, intro to percussion, and beginner songwriting courses. I get excited working with students who are excited to find their own unique voice (literally!) through music.
