Class Experience

Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular tabletop roleplaying game in history, played by millions of people of all ages worldwide. Playing it uses theatrical improv, some basic math, creative problem-solving skills, and lots of imagination. To streamline this adventure, I will provide a pre-made few options for characters, although if anyone wants to make their own, we can arrange to meet and do so before the story starts.

The first session will be getting set up, choosing characters, and going over the basics of play. Players new to the game are totally welcome! Then we will begin the story! A mysterious curse is killing people in Palebank Village, and if the characters don’t stop it, they might be next.

This story takes place in the new D&D setting of Wildemount, in the world of Exandria, made famous by the streaming show Critical Role. What happens each week will largely be determined by the players' actions: what clues they follow, what fights they engage in or avoid, even what corridor in a dungeon they go down.

If you are a player, stop reading now!

The plan for the adventure, however, is as follows
Week 1: Players choose characters and go over the basics of play.
Week 2: The players begin to investigate a mysterious sickness that is killing people by freezing them solid.
Week 3: The investigation continues, and it leads to a local criminal family.
Week 4: The sickness is spreading, the need for a cure becomes pressing, but where can it be found?
Week 5: A source for a cure is identified and the journey to it begins.
Week 6: The adventure closes with a dangerous dungeon crawl in search of a cure.

Please note: except in rare instances, PvP will not be part of this game; the goal is to work together.
No racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.
No evil characters.

I'm offering this class because I love the game of D&D and the effect it's had on my life. I'm an avid player and DM of the game (I play in three games and run four regular campaigns), and I continue to be delighted by what happens once the character sheets and dice come out. My friendships have gotten deeper, I've become a more confident and creative person, and I get to be awesome at least once a week (which is great for self-image).

I've introduced dozens of people to the game through regular beginner one-shots I run bi-weekly at a local game bar, so I am daunted neither by the complexity of the game nor by off-the-wall questions. I've probably heard it all before.
