Class experience
Dungeons and Dragons is the most popular tabletop roleplaying game in history, played by millions of people of all ages worldwide. Playing it uses theatrical improv, some basic math, creative problem-solving skills, and lots of imagination. To streamline this adventure, I will provide a pre-made few options for characters, although if anyone wants to make their own, we can arrange to meet and do so before the story starts. The first session will be getting set up, choosing characters, and...
In playing D&D students have a chance to exercise their social skills as they engage in teamwork and use critical thinking in order to solve problems.
I'm offering this class because I love the game of D&D and the effect it's had on my life. I'm an avid player and DM of the game (I play in three games and run four regular campaigns), and I continue to be delighted by what happens once the character sheets and dice come out. My friendships have gotten deeper, I've become a more confident and creative person, and I get to be awesome at least once a week (which is great for self-image). I've introduced dozens of people to the game through regular beginner one-shots I run bi-weekly at a local game bar, so I am daunted neither by the complexity of the game nor by off-the-wall questions. I've probably heard it all before.
3 files available upon enrollmentI will provide a character sheet for students to complete beforehand, and a free copy of the game rules. Students will either use the online dice roller linked below (free) or need access to their own set of seven polyhedral dice (available online or from local game stores for prices ranging from $5 a set to $15+).

Depictions of fictional violence will occur throughout the class. No sensual content will be allowed, and the general rating of the "mature themes" mentioned above shouldn't exceed PG-13-level. Content Warning: some body horror (death via freezing solid)
I teach D&D classes that showcase imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork. I started playing D&D about five years ago, and at this point I've played hundreds of games and ran hundreds more. I believe that learning should be a lifelong...
