30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
In this action-packed 30-minute class, we’ll explore ballet and creative movement with Frozen music and dances! At the start of class, we’ll say a quick hello so we can get to know each other. We’ll warm-up our bodies, learn ballet basics (plie, tendu & passe), and play a creative movement game that lets us each show off our royal personalities. We’ll spend the last portion of the class learning a ballet dance that is fit for a queen to the song "Into the Unknown" from Frozen 2. At the end of each class, we’ll make sure to finish with a princess curtsey or bow, and wrap up with a quick sharing time where students can talk about Frozen (or share something else that makes them smile) before saying goodbye to all our new friends! In class I use Frozen music along with classic ballet music to keep class engaging. This is a beginning level class for pre-school aged children, so no prior experience is necessary.
Learning Goals
Actively participate in movement to support motor skills and social-emotional development and learn basic ballet steps.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Dance is a physical activity and participation should always be done with parental supervision. Dancing on a flat surface that is free of clutter helps to minimize risk. If the student has an injury or health condition that is agitated by physical activity, please consult a physician before participating.
Supply List
Dancers are welcome to wear a leotard and tights, their favorite princess dress-up costume, or moveable street clothes. Ballet shoes are recommended but bare feet are also welcomed! A distraction-free space where you can freely and safely move is also recommended.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have over 6 years of dance and theater instructing experience for large scale competition studios, theatres, and preschool programs and have been directing community theatre productions for 3 years. As a professional dancer with a Group Fitness Instructor Certification, I also have an in-depth knowledge of movement science and safe practices. Alongside my Bachelor’s in Theatre Studies, I also hold two Associate degrees in Child Development and Social and Behavioral Sciences- making me well versed in instructional techniques for preschool aged students.
