1 hour per week. Each week, students will work on adding new elements to their NASCAR race video for about 15-20 minutes. This might include sketching out characters, planning a scene, or recording a short video segment to capture their story.

Class Experience

In this self-paced course, learners will enhance their existing NASCAR race videos by adding creative storytelling elements, such as character development, plot twists, and thrilling race highlights. Each week, learners will work through engaging activities and prompts to expand their story and bring their videos to life.

Over five weeks, learners will focus on key aspects of storytelling, including developing characters, creating exciting race challenges, structuring a compelling narrative, and adding final touches to their story. In the final week, learners will submit their completed videos to receive personalized feedback and a certificate of completion.

This self-paced class includes detailed guidance, clear weekly assignments, and creative prompts to inspire independent work. Learners can progress at their own pace while receiving feedback and support directly from the instructor.

5 Lessons

Lesson 1:
Building the story
 Kick off your story by creating your main driver! Then we will move onto characters and themes for your race. 
Lesson 2:
Adding Rivals and Challenges;
 This week we add rivals and challenges your driver will race, building excitement and drama. 
Lesson 3:
Creating a Beginning, Middle, and End
 This week we’ll focus on structuring your story with a clear beginning, middle, and end to make it compelling and engaging. 
Lesson 4:
Scene Development and Visual Aids
 This week we’ll dive deeper into your story, brainstorming a key incident and finding ways to make it even more exciting. 

Other Details

Supply List
Their original Nascar race video (2-3 minutes long or longer if desired)
Paper and pencil – For planning scenes and sketching ideas
Markers or colored pencils – For adding color to story plans
Toy cars or small household items – Optional props for video scenes
Recording device – A simple phone or tablet camera for filming additions

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
