Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified elementary educator with over six years of classroom experience, currently teaching 4th grade reading and writing in Kentucky. I have also taught 3rd grade and worked closely with students in small group and one-on-one settings, focusing on foundational reading skills. My instruction is grounded in the Science of Reading, and I am currently completing my LETRS certification (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling)—a nationally recognized training designed to help educators deeply understand how students learn to read and how to effectively intervene when they struggle.
In addition to my classroom role, I serve as the district curriculum lead for 3rd–5th grade English Language Arts and am a Digital Learning Coach in my school, where I support teachers in implementing high-quality instructional tools. I’ve had extensive experience using research-backed programs such as UFLI Foundations, which I use in this class to deliver systematic, explicit phonics instruction. I am also a parent of a child with dyslexia, which gives me a personal understanding of the importance of structured literacy and individualized support.
Throughout my teaching career, I have supported many learners with a variety of needs, including those with reading delays and learning differences. I strive to make my sessions encouraging, engaging, and tailored to each learner’s pace and goals.
