Description
Class Experience
Students are going to learn letter sounds and letter relationships through an active and hands on approach. They will learn that new words can be formed by changing one letter, moving the letters around or by adding letters. They will also learn what word families are and how their new knowledge can help them to form other words.
I have had training in this area and have also used this type of learning in my classroom for many years. I believe it allows students to feel successful when learning to form words on their own.
There will be not extra materials to buy, just come with some letters to work with (example: paper made, magnetic, alphabet blocks or scrabble tiles). Note that sometimes we need two of one letter. I just used a sticky note with a letter on it to fill in where I was missing a letter.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class will focus on forming different words depending on enrolment. Students are welcome to sign up for more than one class and they will experience new material!
