I will support the students when necessary and adapt for different student abilities. Once we have all our words we will see how we can use our...
Students are going to learn letter sounds and letter relationships through an active and hands on approach. They will learn that new words can be formed by changing one letter, moving the letters around or by adding letters. They will also learn what word families are and how their new knowledge can help them to form other words.
I have had training in this area and have also used this type of learning in my classroom for many years. I believe it allows students to feel successful when learning to form words on their own.
There will be no extra materials to buy, just come with some letters to work with (example: paper made, magnetic, alphabet blocks or scrabble tiles). Note that sometimes we need two of one letter. I just used a sticky note with a letter on it to fill in where I was missing a letter.
2 hours 55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
