In this introductory class to Ancient Rome, we will explore the early history of Rome and how it grew into an empire. We will learn about some of the famous Romans from Julius Caesar to Spartacus the Gladiator as well as the daily lives of ordinary people. From the colosseum to the aqueducts we will learn about how Ancient Roman design, innovation and engineering still influences society today. To end the class we will learn about the Roman Colosseum and the training that the gladiators participated in. Questions and comments are encouraged at all times in this interactive, small group class. This class will use slides, photos and videos. No experience necessary, all are welcome.
