Beginner Level
Save 20% for the month of September with code LHONBMILTECH3 Each week the class will examine a piece of military technology that has shaped the battlefield and changed the world. Each lesson is stand-alone, so students can join at any time with no prior experience and stay for as many sessions as they'd like. The time-period of the technology will also vary from week-to-week so that all students can get a breadth of experiences with ancient, medieval and modern technology. Through a combination of teacher-centered instruction and discussion, we will investigate the engineering and technological aspects of the military hardware, its intended use, location, effectiveness and why it became obsolete (if applicable). Students will also be provided with resources to dive further into their understanding of these pieces of military technology outside of the class. The class will run on at least a 12-week rotation covering as many different types of military technology as possible. Some examples of technology types are: -Bronze-Age Weapons -Siege Engines -Castles -Gunpowder -Cannons -Vauban Forts -Muskets -Field Artillery -The First Tanks of WW1 -Fighter Planes -The Atomic Bomb -Spy Satellites -Submarines -Cyber-warfare -Drones -I'm also happy to take suggestions for future sessions if students express an interest in a specific topic! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
