This 90-minute virtual workshop is designed to equip high school students with knowledge and skills for navigating the college application process. Participants will gain valuable insights into crafting compelling college applications, understanding the admissions process, and exploring potential majors. My teaching style is interactive and encouraging. Introduction to College Applications: Students will learn about the key components of a college application, such as the personal statement, activities list, supplemental essays, and transcripts, and how different colleges prioritize each part. College Application Review: Students will receive condensed versions of college applications from three applicants. They will analyze the applications, including essays, transcripts, and extracurricular activities, to determine whether the applicants should be denied, waitlisted, or accepted. Major Exploration and Application: Students will be assigned different academic majors. They will then receive scenarios and will explain what skills they can use from that major to solve the given problem. Interactive Q&A Session: Students will have the opportunity to ask questions about the college application process, essay writing, and choosing majors. By participating in this workshop, students will gain confidence in their ability to navigate the college application process and make informed decisions about their academic and career goals.
