Join us in a discussion and project-based book study as we use our creativity to help the main character survive the 5th grade!

Class Experience

In this course, we will navigate through the novel Frindle by Andrew Clements. Each week we will focus on a new element of literary analysis to enhance reading comprehension. In addition, each week will be accompanied by vocabulary development and discussion. 
 
We will discuss the elements and storyline of the Novel Frindle as we follow the main character throughout his school year. 

CLASS SCHEDULE

Chapters must be read *BEFORE* each lesson to keep the progress of the class moving forward...

Students will be able to discuss the themes and motifs presented in the novel. 

In the course, students will learn and practice: 

-Novel vocabulary 
-Reading Comprehension 
-Summarizing Skills 
-Story elements

Students will need to read the chapters in the book prior to each class meeting.

-Frindle 
-Access  to Nearpod

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Google Classroom

Discussion participation 
Comprehension questions 
Book quiz

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
