This class is taught in English.
Learners will create new friendships with the other members of their “cabin”, and discuss topics like friendship, loyalty, bravery, and other characteristics and experiences found in the Lumberjanes books.
I am a huge comic book nerd and longtime Lumberjanes fan. I can’t wait to talk about every last detail of this amazing series, share my own insight, and learn from each other!
The designated chapters should be read before each meeting, and learners are encouraged to read and think about the provided questions and supplementary materials, but no actual homework is required.
Learners MUST have their own copies of the first three Lumberjanes graphic novels, OR the first twelve comic issues - either are fine!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The Lumberjanes comics are rated 8+ on the Common Sense Media website, but parents are encouraged to research the books themselves and ensure that the themes presented in the stories align with their own values and their child’s developmental stage.
