Description

Class Experience

Learners will make a simple and unique gift each day during this camp. We will use common household items along with bounty from our own gardens as materials for these gifts. Whether you sign up last minute or are a master planner, these gift ideas are designed to make use of your current resources vs. going out to shop for them. I'll give several options in each class so that no matter what combination of supplies your learner has, they can participate. Each gift can be made as simply or ornately as you choose based on creativity and time. Come share your ideas with us and enjoy making friends with fellow garden enthusiasts!
Hello! My name is Stephanie and I’d like to share a little about myself and the classes I will be teaching. I have worked with children for over 30 years as a nurse, social worker, co-teacher, therapist, ESL teacher, and substitute teacher. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Social Work. I am a garden enthusiast and began my own garden over 30 years ago after a friend gave me a simple pot of red geraniums. I cut and share from my own garden every chance I get. From water gardening to butterfly gardening, I love it all.
Each project made in class can be embellished in between classes. Gathering household materials and items from the garden will be part of the class preparation.
This list is a collection of common household items that can be gathered and used throughout the camp. There are multiple options for the supplies below so that you can use what you already have to create these gifts. 1. Patterned craft paper, wrapping paper, card stock, light weight cardboard 2. Twigs, leaves, acorns, etc. collected from the garden 3. Craft ribbon, twine, string, or yarn. Brown garden twine will work for all gifts 4. Jars, small vases, tin cans or vessel to hold flowers or greenery 5. Scissors, hole punch, tape, glue stick, liquid glue, or glue gun 6. Berries, beads, thread and needle 7. Colored markers, pens, or pencils 8. Toilet paper or paper towel rolls
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
None
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
If your learners choose to use a glue gun, please either assist them or determine if they are safe to use it for crafting while in class. If they will be using a needle and thread to string berries and leaves, please help them to thread the needle prior to class.
Thank you!
All instructions will be given during class for the completion of each project. At the end of each class we will discuss what we will making in the next class and what supplies will be needed for it.
