Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
In Ms. Julie and Pippa's classes, the focus is on keeping kids connected, engaged, learning and smiling. On Thursdays, we play to learn all about feelings and social/emotional skills. Feel free to jump into the class at any point in its run; we'll do something new each week, so your learner won't be behind if they didn't start at the beginning. Feel free to jump into the class at any point in its run; we'll do something new each week, so your learner won't be behind if they didn't start at the beginning.

We will follow the same schedule with new and exciting material in every 30-minute class:
- 👋🎶 Sing hello and check on our friends' feelings
- 🥰 Learn about a new feeling or social/emotional skill
- 🎶🎯 Sing or play a fun and silly game with our new knowledge OR show-and-tell in relation to the day's theme (this will always be posted ahead of time in the classroom)
- 🪩 Move and groove to a wiggle-buster song
- 📚 Read and interact with a theme-related story
- 🗣️💭 Share out with our friends
- 👋🎶 Sing a goodbye song

Our class will include movement, so students will benefit from the ability to stand up out of their seats and will enjoy at least enough room to spin with their arms out.

⏰ I prioritize student voice in my classes, so depending on how much my learners have to day on any given day, classes can run up to 5 minutes over their allotted time. I will always give learners the option to say goodbye at the end of the formal class time.

🤫 To limit background noise and distraction, students will be muted unless it is their turn to talk. 🔇 As a teacher, I am only able to request that your learner unmute; I cannot unmute them myself! 📢 If your child is unable to reliably unmute their microphone, please stay close by so that you can assist. I will help children develop this technological literacy as our classes together go forward.

📝 At the end of class, I will provide an optional themed extension activity to keep the fun times rolling throughout your day, wherever it may take you!

Feel free to sign up for one class at a time, or to join each week to study a different social-emotional skill! Is your learner nervous about a big change? Are they working on using their words to express their feelings? Do they struggle with expressing their anger in a productive, non-harmful way? If there is something you and your learner are working on at home, please send me a message. I'm always open to suggestions for class topics.
