30 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
Students are encouraged to study the Quizlet cards for at least 10 minutes each week. There are lots of games and activities to practice the new vocabulary with the "deck" of words.Class Experience
***Please note- due to low summer enrollment, the last two classes of the summer will be 6/26 (craft tools) and 7/10 (at the library). The class will resume on Monday 9/11. Want to build French vocabulary? Students are encouraged to study 20 new words each week with online flashcards and games on Quizlet.com. It "forces" French leaners to review/practice and know words and phrases throughout the week in order to play in the game! Great for beginners with little/no previous French knowledge or students who have had previous study who want to build their vocabulary or review, If you're leaner is enrolled in a beginner French class but wants even more opportunity to be challenged to study new vocabulary with Quizlet and to play an interactive and fun competition of Quizletlive, this is a weekly ongoing class for kids to play and compete. In teaching my weekly beginner French class, I realized kids LOVED Quizletlive to test and demonstrate their understanding of the new words we learned. But, our ongoing video class wasn't the best option for playing with new learners always coming in and out. How will it work? Each week (right after class ) , kids will be given a new "deck" or "set" of Quizlet cards to study. I will create them and share them based on age-appropriate vocabulary and language readiness. Kids can choose to study these cards as much or as little as they want! Then, during our live meeting, we will play Quizlet live, a fun and interactive game that encourages kids to show their French knowledge! Please note: Your learner will need to be able to read in order to select the correct answer. Students will also need to practice "opening a new tab" in their browser in order to get to the quizlet game. Example Weekly Topics: (Words given and Quizlet Deck set created each week to study and play game with) 9/11/23- La Pluie 9/18/23- L'electricité 9/25/23-le matin 10/2/23- octobre 10/9/23- Les jeux vidéos 10/16/23-Mon lit 10/23/23-Ecole en Famille 10/30/23- ***Please note, if you sign up on the day of the class, your learner will not have had the week to practice learning the words like the other students. They are still welcome to join, and practice playing, but it may feel a bit overwhelming if he/she has not had time to study the words. If you're unsure about "timing" please message me when you sign up to be sure we get your leaner started correctly! ***The last meeting of the Sunday section is on Sunday May 7th! We will be taking a summer break after that. The Monday section will run throughout most of the summer!
Learning Goals
