Bonjour! This class is an introduction to the French language for learners ages 8-12. We will cover basic greetings, how to introduce ourselves, how to count to 10, colors, shapes, parts of the body, and food vocabulary. This interactive class will be taught using visuals/props, repetition and voice variation, google slides, as well as games (kahoot, bingo, coloring activity) to help engage learners and help them retain what they've learned! Students will have the opportunity to speak throughout the session, so a microphone is recommended. This multi-day camp is for beginners, so don't worry, you don't need to speak any French at all to join! I hope to see you soon! Day 1: Greetings and numbers 1-10 (with kahoot game) Day 2: Shapes and colors (with coloring activity and matching game for home) Day 3: Parts of the Body (with game) Day 4: Food (with Bingo) Learners will receive a handout with the vocabulary from our sessions. In order for all students to hear me in class, there may be times where students are muted. There will be times where I work with students individually and may need to mute other learners if needed. Additionally, due to Outschool policy, students must identify themselves on camera at least once at the beginning of class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn some basic French, including greetings, 'my name is', 'how are you', 'thank you', 'please', numbers to 10, shapes, colours, as well as basic food vocabulary in French. We will practice the new vocabulary through visuals, repetition, kahoot, Bingo, a coloring activity and a matching game (to be sent home). Classes will be interactive and everyone will get a chance to speak.

Supply List
We will use the site https://kahoot.it to review greetings and numbers on the first day (the game code will be sent during class). A second device is recommended to play the kahoot game. Learners can also download the free app to play. I will also send a bingo card on the last day to be printed (and send a link if learners prefer playing along online)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Bonjour! My name is Michele Kujawa and I love teaching languages. I grew up in a bilingual household (German + English) and starting learning French at school as a child. I have traveled a lot in my life and completed several summer French immersion programs to improve my French. I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities being multi-lingual has brought me and I'm excited to help get young learners started in their language learning journey. I live in Ontario, Canada and have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French and German from Western University. I have taught French for over 17 years at the high school level and currently also teach English as a Second Language online to young learners. I am also the mom of 3 energetic boys!
In addition to teaching and learning languages, I also am passionate about music and have been singing most of my life! I love incorporating music into my lessons. I also love skiing in the winter, especially with family and staying active outdoors. I love being in nature, swimming, Crossfit, traveling and gardening.
I believe language learning should be fun and I strive to keep students engaged during class through games, songs, visuals, props and by making the learning relevant to students. I look forward to having your child in my class!
