Class Experience

In this class, students who speak basic French (Intermediate and up if you are in my vocabulary classes) can make friends and play games.

STUDENT LEVEL 3+
Students MUST
-know basic French vocabulary: colors, numbers, alphabet, animals, food, etc.
-be able to form sentences, questions, and express their opinion
-know how to understand and answer questions about a variety of subjects without help from English translations or an adult
-be able to have a simple conversation (what they did that day, favorite things, preferences, etc) with little to no help from English translations or an adult
-be able to understand and pick up games and instructions in a French-immersion environment

NOTE: These are the minimum requirements for student levels. More advanced students are welcome!

In this class, students will be able to play games and socialize as they make new friends in a French-immersion environment. Each week we'll start with a group conversation for 5-10 minutes while everyone joins class (I'll ask about students' weeks as well as a few "icebreaker" questions). Then, students will spend 15-20 minutes in breakout room conversation. I will be closely monitoring breakout rooms to make sure students are appropriate and speaking in French, but students will be leading the conversation. We will then come back together to play a game of the week.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 7 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 2 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French through Outschool for 1 year.

I took the French CLEP test a few years ago and got maybe 5 points away from a perfect score while testing out of and getting credit for all the French classes at my local community college.

I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education.

I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
