French Quick Sketch: Learning French While Drawing Some of Your Favorite Things
Class experience
Each week we will learn new French nouns. We will always discuss the appropriate article for masculine and feminine nouns. For example "le chat" (m) as opposed to "la chatte" (f). Students will be encouraged to pronounce the words, and also to use the words when talking about the picture they will draw in class. All children will be given tips on how to draw a picture of the assigned words through teacher demonstration and constructive and positive feedback. If your child does not like to...
I would love for the children to learn at least 5 new french words a week!
Having grown up in a bilingual home, I know that repetition and using words and phrases in different contexts is the key to learning any new language. As an ESL teacher I also know that children love to learn when they are in a fun atmosphere and the more exposure to the language...the better!
Homework Offered
The only homework will be their drawings if not completed by the end of the class. This will only be required if the child "wants" to draw outside of class time as I do not want a situation where the child is dreading attending the class if their drawings are not complete.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
All children will be asked to repeat the words of the day and at the end of class to see if they can recall the words on their own.Grades Offered
Paper, markers and / or crayons (please try not to use pencil as it is very hard to see the students drawing unless it is a darker type of pencil.) Ì also highly encourage you to use the free app called Quizlet which helps kids study the words outside of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
