Does your student love music and want to increase their knowledge of the French language? Come study classic and popular French songs and artists with me! This class is recommended to students who have already completed French 1 or higher, but students with less experience are welcome to come try it out! Each week, we will have an introduction to the song and the artist. Students will listen to the song all together and try to pick out any words or phrases that they recognize and write them down. They will share anything they could understand. Then, students will get the chance to take turns reading through the song. Readers will be volunteer only - no one will be forced to read! Then, either in breakout rooms or all together, students will work together to translate the lyrics of the song. They will write down any questions that may come up if in breakout rooms. Then, students will discuss the song. We'll talk about things we noticed, what the message is, our favorite or least favorite parts, the style, etc. Week of 6/1/25 - "Papaoutai" by Stromae Week of 6/8/25 - "Je Veux" by Zaz Week of 6/15/25 - "On écrit sur les murs" by Kids United Week of 6/22/25 - "Aux Champs-Élysées" by Joe Dassin Week of 6/29/25 - "La Vie en Rose" by Édith Piaf Week of 7/6/25 - "Tout va bien" by Albin de la Simone Week of 7/13/25 - "Plus Tard" by Bigflo et Oli Week of 7/20/25 - "Ça va ça vient" by Vitaa & Slimane Week of 7/27/25 - "J’ai demandé à la lune" by Indochine Week of 8/3/25 - "Sous le vent" by Garou & Céline Dion Week of 8/10/25 - "Tant qu'on est la" by Erza Muqoli

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 9 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 4 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French online for two years.
I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education. I attended a 7-week summer French immersion camp through Middlebury College.
I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
