Class Experience

Students will learn Ballet technique and French vocabulary.
A material list will be posted before each class if necessary. The types of items are things around the house such as stuffed animals, soft toys or pillows, and small scarves, bandanas, napkins, shirts or any other small pieces of fabric to hold and wave around, chopsticks, pencils or straws, quarters or other large play money. Optional - Learners can dress up if they wish so long as it doesn't interfere with their range of movement.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please note that participation in any movement classes should only be done if your child is in good health. They should have water at hand, and a safe space free of clutter or dangerous objects. Keep in mind that movement classes come with a potential risk of injury. Parental guidance is advised. Participating in these online dance classes is at your own risk, and you assume all risk of injury to yourself or child.

For Ballet, please do not wear any shoes other than fitted ballet slippers. If you do not have ballet slippers than bear foot is fine too. ONLY if you are on carpet would socks or tights be acceptable. DO NOT wear socks or tights on slippery floors such as wood or laminate. This can lead to your child falling. It is also not recommended to do ballet on cement because of the impact the bones and joints absorb that shoes would normally absorb.

Children should be in comfortable clothes that allow for a full range of motion and will not cause them to trip.

We will be spinning in circles sometimes for some choreography. Please make sure that your child does not have any health concerns related to spinning, or that if they do you inform me beforehand, and remind them to refrain from those movements. I can always modify to fit the needs of your child.
I very occasionally show a short Youtube video to explain an idea, and I use my own power point slides for a movement game where learners get to pick the color to reveal what dance we will do.
