n this 45-minute creative writing workshop, students will describe the Snowman’s secret hideout, a magical winter scene filled with intrigue and wonder. They will learn to use sensory details and personification to bring the setting to life while focusing on physical and atmospheric elements. Additionally, students will receive personalized feedback on their work within the week following the workshop. What will be taught? Writing a detailed description of a place, focusing on physical and sensory details. Using personification to enhance creativity and bring the scene to life. Capturing mood and atmosphere through sensory language, with a focus on sound. What topics will you cover? Exploring sensory details (e.g., sound, sight, and touch) for vivid descriptions. Vocabulary building with a focus on personification and descriptive imagery. Techniques for crafting an engaging and magical winter scene. How is your class structured? 1. Warm-Up & Introduction (5 minutes) Begin with a brief reading of the mise en situation d'écriture to spark creativity and set the tone. Quick brainstorming activity: Imagine the Snowman’s hideout—what does it look and sound like? 2. Mini-Lesson on Sensory Details and Personification (10 minutes) Present the fiche descriptive with examples of sensory details and personification. Share an example of a description (one with sensory details and one without) to compare the impact of these techniques. 3. Guided Writing Activity (20 minutes) Students work on their description using the feuille de rédaction for step-by-step guidance. Encourage them to incorporate vocabulary and personification from the provided examples. Offer one-on-one support to help students refine their ideas. 4. Sharing & Reflection (10 minutes) Invite students to share one or two sentences from their writing. Provide positive and constructive feedback, emphasizing creative use of sensory language and personification. 5. Post-Class Feedback Students can submit their completed descriptions for detailed, personalized feedback. Feedback will focus on their use of sensory vocabulary, personification, and overall creativity, provided within one week. How will you teach? I use a blend of direct instruction, interactive discussion, and guided practice. Students will actively participate in brainstorming, writing, and sharing their ideas, supported by clear examples and resources. What's your teaching style?
