In this 45-minute French creative writing workshop, students will craft a vivid and detailed description of Santa’s Gift Thief, an animal character full of mystery and charm. Through engaging prompts and guidance, learners will use sensory and physical details to bring their character to life. What will be taught? Writing a detailed description of an animal character. Using sensory details (e.g., smell, sight, touch) to enrich the writing. Structuring a descriptive text with precision and creativity. What topics will you cover? Developing descriptive writing skills with a focus on physical traits and sensory details. Exploring vocabulary to make descriptions vivid and engaging. Techniques for creating intriguing and memorable characters. How is your class structured? 1. Warm-Up & Introduction (5 minutes): A brief discussion to introduce the concept of the "Gift Thief" and spark curiosity. Brainstorm sensory details and physical traits for an animal character. 2. Mini-Lesson on Descriptive Writing (10 minutes): Explanation of how to describe physical traits and use sensory details, supported by the Fiche explicative. A quick review of the Aide-mémoire for ideas and inspiration. 3. Guided Writing Activity (20 minutes): Students work on their description using the Feuille de rédaction. Prompts and examples from the Exemple de texte inspirant will guide them step-by-step. Individual support provided during the writing phase to encourage creativity and precision. 4. Sharing & Feedback (10 minutes): Students share a favorite sentence or part of their description. Constructive feedback is provided, highlighting strong sensory details or creative ideas. How will you teach? This class combines direct instruction, guided practice, and collaborative sharing. Students will actively participate in brainstorming and writing while using the provided resources to scaffold their learning. What's your teaching style? I use a supportive and encouraging approach, balancing structured guidance with creative freedom. My goal is to help learners feel confident in their writing skills while fostering their imagination How much will learners interact with you? During the workshop: discussions during brainstorming and the mini-lesson, one-on-one guidance during the writing phase, and group sharing in the reflection segment. After the workshop: detailed, personalized feedback on their descriptions, allowing learners to continue improving their writing skills.
