US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Bonjour, et bienvenue! Come practice your French conversation skills with us in this ongoing club. The courses will be 95% immersion-based (barring any necessary tech support or classroom commands). Through the use of learning materials such as slides, GIFs, gestures, and props, most students should be able to understand the sentence frames and vocabulary. It is suitable for introductory-level French students, but would best serve students who have had at least some exposure to the basics of French. Students should ideally have 3 months of experience and be able to introduce themselves, talk about colors, count, and understand basic commands. At the beginning of each class, students will have the chance to practice introducing themselves and practice basic conversation questions (feelings, weather, age, etc). Each lesson will be structured with a particular conversation theme, with basic sentence patterns and conversation focused around the theme. I will model full sentences for them to gain confidence expressing themselves and provide error correction in a positive way as needed. For the last 5 minutes of class, students are invited to bring a drawing or toy related to the class theme and will share it (in French, with my help) with each other. The upcoming weekly themes will be as follows: Week of September 12th - 16th: L’automne (Fall) Week of September 19th - 23rd: Les métiers pt. 1 (Jobs) Week of September 26th - 30th: Les métiers pt. 2 (Jobs) Week of October 3rd - 7th: Le quartier pt. 1 (The neighborhood) Week of October 10th - 14th: Le quartier pt. 2 (The neighborhood) Week of October 17th - 21st: Le quartier pt. 2 (The neighborhood) Week of October 24th - 28th: L’Halloween (Halloween) Week of October 31st - November 4th: La topographie (Landforms) Week of November 7th - November 11th: Les pays pt. 1 (Countries) Week of November 14th - November 18th: Les pays pt. 2 (Countries) Week of November 21st - November 25th: L’action de grâce (Thanksgiving) Week of November 28th - December 2nd: La famille (Family) Class reminders: - All students must turn on their video at minimum once at the beginning of class so that I can verify their identity. - I follow Outschool’s attendance / refund policy for ongoing classes. - I encourage students to stay hydrated if needed and have no problem with them drinking water or juice during class… however, I ask that they wait until after class to eat their snacks! :) - I will handle enrollment minimums on a case-by-case basis. In the event that there are fewer than two learners enrolled, if I have to cancel, I will be sure to let you know 24 hours in advance. - Parents will want to be sure their children know how to mute and unmute themselves on Zoom, and manage the different view options. - Please refer to the Outschool policy regarding refunds. I cannot offer refunds on ongoing classes even partial, after the class has taken place however as with all other ongoing classes, you may unsubscribe at any time.
Learning Goals
Students will gain confidence in speaking French, with specific themes as a guide for our conversation. I will model full sentences for them and provide positive error correction if needed, in order for them to gain confidence expressing themselves.

It would be helpful if students are able to, or have practiced, introducing themselves ("Je m'appelle ______"), sharing their age and counting to 10 (ex: "J'ai sept (7) ans"), and talking about colors, size, likes ("J'aime...) and dislikes.
