Class Experience

This is an intensive French class designed to prepare students for the French CLEP test. Some colleges will accept the CLEP test as college credit for elementary French. Make sure you check with your specific college before taking the CLEP! This class is designed for students who have taken at least 3 years of French.

Note: You are welcome to take this class even if you are NOT planning to take the CLEP test.

Each week, BEFORE class, you will be assigned videos to watch about our topic, as well as practice problems. The videos MUST ALL be watched, but you can choose the number of practice problems based on how well you’ve mastered the topic.

In class, I will answer any questions about the topic, and then we will complete some practice activities. These will include conversations, reading, writing, and practice questions that are similar to those on the CLEP. We will also play some games to practice what we’ve learned.

*This class uses breakout rooms to give students a chance to work in groups. I will explain expectations and closely monitor all groups to make sure they are following those expectations.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 7 years now, from French 1 - French 5 as well as 2 years of immersion French classes. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French through Outschool for 1 year.

I took the French CLEP test a few years ago and got maybe 5 points away from a perfect score while testing out of and getting credit for all the French classes at my local community college.

I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education. I also completed a 7-week intensive full-immersion program through Middlebury College.

I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
