This class is great for students who don't know any French or need more confidence and practice while speaking. In this camp, students will learn vocabulary to introduce themselves and get to know one another while making friends and completing activities. Each week at the beginning of class, we will spend 5-10 minutes introducing ourselves and answering icebreaker questions (in English). Students will each be given a turn to speak through hand-raising. After that, I will be teaching in a mix of French and English, depending on the group and the activity. Day 1: Introductions and icebreakers - English Learn vocabulary for introductions with our stuffed animals! - French with English translations and pictures Read a book in French. Students will have the chance to repeat words and phrases and "act out" the story. - Book is in French, I will ask for repetition and acting in a mix of French and English. Day 2: Introductions and icebreakers - English Review vocabulary by playing a question and answer game with our stuffed animals - I ask in French, students answer in English/French depending on level Draw a picture of some of our favorite animals. Students will learn the names of animals, as well as colors and basic shapes. - I instruct in French, and students follow along visually Day 3: Introductions and icebreakers - English Color review quiz - I ask in English, students answer in French Stuffed animal colors - I ask and students answer in English/French, depending on level Complete a color scavenger hunt to review colors - Colors are assigned in French, and I check to make sure students know the English of their color Learn a simple song in French (Frère Jacques) - Song is in French

Parental Guidance
Students may need a parent present to help with the microphone. I don't always mute, but sometimes if there is a lot of background noise I will, and if a student can't unmute when it's their turn to speak, they will have a hard time participating.
Supply List
ONE stuffed animal (this is important, as if students try to tell us about all their stuffed animals, we won't have time for the rest of our fun activities!) Paper Markers/crayons Scavenger hunt in the 6 main rainbow colors (you can have objects set up in a nearby room so they don't have to go far)
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been learning French for 6 years now, from French 1 - French 5. I am conversationally fluent and at a B2 level. I have tutored French immersion from May 2020 through August 2020 when the French immersion school near us closed for quarantine, and I've been teaching French through Outschool for 1 year.
I took the French CLEP test a few years ago and got maybe 5 points away from a perfect score while testing out of and getting credit for all the French classes at my local community college.
I also continue to take French lessons with native speakers, and I am working towards my Bachelors in French, which includes classes in advanced French immersion, French literature, and French education.
I also have my certification in TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), the principles from which I apply to my French classes.
