Bonjour! Je M'appelle Madame Cristina!! Comment t'appelles-tu? Quel est votre nom? Learners will gain a comprehensive knowledge of the French language in a flexible interactive setting. We will cover items that would be covered in a French II level course of study in High School. My teaching style is to combine visual aids and hands on activities to attend to the different learning abilities of all those in the class. Not only will students learn basic vocabulary but there will also be an emphasis on French culture. **This is not an immersion type class.** Learners will complete and submit assignments, play games in the OutSchool classroom (via a Kahoot) or Jeopardy and practice their French with fellow classmates. Each week there will be a question and answer section at the end of class. Items will build from week to week and we will begin each class answering questions in French from the week before. By the end of the course, learners will be speaking, reading and writing basic French and able to share details about themselves in French. Week 1: Review of French I class and determine what level students are in the language. Week 2: Autour de la ville -Around the town/city/village and Class Project Week 3: Les professions - Professions/Jobs Vocabulary - Create sentences combining les professions et la ville. Week 4: Les verbes - Seasonal Verbs Week 5: Adjectifs, Vocabulaire et gramaire - Adjectives & Grammar Week 6: Les Sportifs - Sports/Games Vocabulary and Class Project Week 7: Histoire et géographie de France - French History and Geography Week 8: Write a short assignment of items learned. -Share writing assignments and provide feedback for improvement. Week 9: Review and Kahoot or Jeopardy Game Learners require previous language experience. Students will have the opportunity to work on worksheets during class and outside of class time for maximum retention. A letter grade can be provided, by request, at the end of the semester based on participation and completion of work. Learning Goals
Learners will learn how to use context clues and make connections to the vocabulary. This enables them to not only make connections to this language but acts as a tool to learn other languages.
