Class Experience

Bonjour! Welcome to French 102. In this course, we will build upon our knowledge from French 101. This course will include more in-depth looks into the French language and culture. We will learn how to construct compound and complex sentences in both the Present tense and the Passé Composé. We will also learn conjugations of various verb forms, further our vocabulary, and learn more details of the geography and architecture of France. This class will include a short, one page paper that we will work on constructing together over the course of the 4 weeks. The weekly breakdown of the class is as follows:
Week 1: Review foundations of the French language, learn conjugations of -re, -ir, and irregular verbs, and cover Sections 16-19 of our vocabulary terms. We will also pick our topic for our paper during this week.
Week 2: Learn possessive pronouns and how to apply them in sentences, discuss the Passé Composé and learn how to conjugate using avoir, and Sections 20-23 of our vocabulary terms. We will also create an outline with topics of conversation for our paper.
Week 3: Learn how to utilize the Passé Composé in sentences and how to conjuguate using être, take a closer look at the French map, and Sections 24-27 of our vocabulary terms. We will also begin to construct the content of our paper this week as a rough draft.
Week 4: Discussions on French Culture and Architecture, practicing construction of sentences for both present and past, practicing oral communication between students utilizing both the present and the past tense, and Sections 28-30 of our vocabulary terms. This week we will go over and finalize our papers as well as take our end of class assessment.
