Class Experience
***See class times and current status at the bottom.***
This is a level one French class for absolute beginners. This is an ongoing subscription for students to learn the basics with vocabulary and grammar in French. Some of the topics will include weather, telling time, adjectives, activities, food, etc.

CLASS STRUCTURE
- introduce new vocabulary or grammar with notes (We make sure to engage students while note-taking by adding group practice and activities in between slides)
- practice pronunciation of new vocabulary/grammar in between note-taking
- group practice (can include speaking, games, matching activities, etc.)
- individual practice (usually writing/answering questions or using the chat box on zoom to answer a question)

CLASS RESOURCES
We use Google Slides and the Zoom whiteboard to teach. We sometimes use nearpod.com for interactive slides (see more in Parental Guidance).

Students receive a PDF of the materials we use and a class recording is automatically posted within 24 hours of the lesson so they can watch the lesson again. Re-watching the lesson typically helps with pronunciation and vocabulary or grammar practice.

We have an engaging teaching style where we incorporate games and discussion with the students. In that sense, we interact often throughout the lesson.

Rachel is going into her junior year at the College of Wooster. She is pursuing a double major in French and Spanish with a double minor in Russian and German. On top of that, Rachel speaks Hebrew and knows how to communicate in American Sign Language. She has many experiences teaching languages to children because in 2019 she started her own language program. She helped children learn American Sign Language, French, Spanish and Russian.

Rachel recently studied abroad in France and had the opportunity to teach English as a second language to middle school students. While she was there she also practiced her translation skills.

She has a passion for foreign languages because she enjoys being able to communicate with people. She grew up surrounded by different languages, which increased her curiosity in language learning. She brings that curiosity and passion to the classroom. Rachel adores working with children because she loves seeing them excited to learn! She is kind, engaging and a very good listener so she is able to cater to different learning styles and make students comfortable.
