Class Experience

Every week, students will need to read the recipes, watch the video lessons, answer questions, create their dish, find Ollie, and post a photo or video of their dish on the discussion board. Students can have fun with their photos or make a "cooking show" video describing their creations.
Students will need common kitchen equipment such as bowls, a pot, a spatula, a baking sheet, a sieve/strainer (optional), a grater (optional), and wax paper.

Turtles: pecan halves, Kraft caramels, shortening, semi-sweet chocolate chips
Chocolate fudge: semisweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and walnuts (optional).
Peppermint patties: sweetened condensed milk, peppermint extract, powdered sugar, semisweet chocolate chips, and shortening.
Truffles: quality chocolate bars, heavy cream, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract.
Truffle flavoring and coating: I would recommend mint leaves/extract and an orange so students can learn how to infuse flavor into their truffles. Truffles can be rolled in several coatings to create many flavors and textures such as coconut, cocoa powder, sprinkles, nuts, or dehydrated fruit. Feel free to use whatever you think you would enjoy but don't forget to experiment a little too.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be preparing dishes at home and may need to use the stove, oven, microwave, knives, and/or small appliances. Young students may need some parental help. Please review the recipes every week to be aware of any allergy concerns.
