Description
Class Experience
We will begin with a brief overview of scoring in golf, including descriptions of par and explanation of positive and negative numbers in scoring scenarios. Students will then be given a score card listing various categories of fractions (not reduced, greater than one-half, etc.) and will roll virtual dice in order to create a fraction. (We will define "numerator" and "denominator" to help.) Golfers will continue to roll dice until their fractions meet the criteria on the score card, with...
Students will finish this game understanding par, golf scoring, negative and positive numbers and their use in golf, as well as various exercises in understanding fractions, how to read them, how to reduce them, and what they represent.
Students may want to bring a pair of dice, but we will have access to this virtually if it is not available at home.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
