Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 6
In this class we will learn about the relation between fractions, percentages and decimals.

We all know that decimals can be written in fraction form. In this class we will learn how to perform that conversion. Namely, to convert a decimal to a fraction we should place the decimal number over its place value. We can use division to convert the fraction to a decimal, and multiply by 100 to get percent value, and much more useful strategies and steps.

We will start the class with greeting, and some warm up questions on place values, which will take 5-10 min.
Then we will have guided practice (10-15 min) and then learners will work on revealing the secret message (quote), by solving the word by word code puzzle. (15 min)
This class will encourage team work, but students will be allowed to solve the question independently if they prefer.

This class is a nice practice for learners who wants to refresh their skills on this topic, or learners who have started learning about fractions, decimals and percentages.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their:

procedural solving skills on conversion between fractions, ratios and percentages,
problem solving skills,
increase their team -work skills,
improve their logical reasoning.

Hello, my dear students, parents, or guardians!!
** If there is no class offered on my calendar, please feel free to reach out to me and I will open a section for you.
* I take Sundays off, so I don't respond to emails or messages on that day.

I'm a passionate math teacher and educator, who loves working with children. I'm joyful and persistent person with a bachelors degree in teaching mathematics. I have been tutoring, teaching math and working with pupils for over 10 years. I'm creative, open, positive and most importantly, a reliable teacher.

I have more than five years of classroom teaching experience as a public school math teacher in Europe (middle school and high school), three years as a math instructor in after school programs in Canada, three year as a math tutor on Outschool, and a background which includes overall of more than 10 years of tutoring math.

My rich experience allows me to effectively assess student's challenging areas and focus on them. I always give students space and encourage them to share their opinions and thoughts.
My approach is an easy and fun way for students to enhance their math comprehension.
I believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn how to cherish and love math.

I spend my free time as a bookworm :D Avid reader here! I enjoy relaxing while playing my acoustic guitar and listening to classical music.

Let me drop some Fun Facts for me: I have lived on 2 continents, I can fluently speak, read and write in 5 languages (and I'm a math teacher, not a language teacher can you imagine?), and 10 is my favorite number. Did I say 2, 5, and 10? Oh, those multiplication fact families, they are everywhere!

My motto is: Whatever you do, make sure that you do it with your whole heart!

My Policy (in addition to the general Outschool policy)
****According to the Class recording policy of Outschool: ''Enrolling in class does not guarantee access to class recordings - they are shared at each teacher's discretion. "
I keep the discretion TO NOT SHARE THE RECORDINGS if two or more learners were following the meeting by default. Exceptions are possible. However, I would be happy to share the recording of any 1:1 class.

**** If parents are answering the questions directed to the students I will kindly ask them to restrict themselves from doing that, if that continues I will message privately, and if that continue happening I will contact the Outschool support for assistance.

**** Camera ON
Please can you encourage your learner to stay on the camera during the class, so we can have quality non-verbal communication as well. Sometimes, student's expression will tell more about their understanding of a specific topic we are working on than anything else.

**** I don't cancel the classes with one learner.

**** I keep my classes at affordable rates.

**** My time zone is Pacific (my 6am is 9am EST). Because of the time zone, unfortunately, I can not schedule a class earlier than 10 am Eastern Standard Time, and later than 3 pm China Time. I tend to reply to messages in the period between 10am PST and 10pm PST. If you don't get back from me in more than a day I will kindly ask you if possible to resend your message.

If you are interested in booking a tutoring class, and you can not find a time that will work for you on my schedule then please feel free to click the class listing, then kindly go to the Alternative Times Section which is below the regular Available Times section.
These classes in the Alternative Times are automatically created based on my availability.
