Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Develop an understanding of fractions and improve comfort level of using fractions.
Rafael Silva graduated with a B.A. in Organizational Behavior from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis where he completed Calculus III. He has also tutored students in Math Since October 2020 and tutored children on various other subjects.
Homework will be given out in the form of worksheets for the students to practice what they learned in the course.
A stable internet connection. Class participation using a Tablet or Laptop computer. Class cannot be taken using a smartphone. Electronic device must have a working microphone.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be shown https://toytheater.com/fraction-strips/ where they will be able to manipulate fraction strips and see for themselves how fractions fit into whole numbers. Students will be allowed to use https://www.abcya.com/games/fraction_fling to practice representing fractional amounts using numbers. Students will use https://www.sheppardsoftware.com/math/fractions/greatest-common-factor-game/ to solidify factoring. Students will be exposed to math using fractions and will practice addition with the game https://www.abcya.com/games/adding_fractions.
