Class Experience

The first half of the class is a direct lesson on identifying, comparing, and finding equivalent fractions. I will use two different manipulatives (magnetic fractions and Lego pieces) which will give learners a concrete visualization of how halves, thirds, fourths and sixths relate in regards of equivalency (being equal in size). This is the beginning skill that is needed to progress into comparing, adding, and subtracting fractions. I will model and coach the learner step-by-step with the visuals on how to find equivalent fractions. Following this lesson and for the other half of the class, students will play a board game that will provide problems and guided learning to practice what our lesson included (identify, compare, and find equivalent fractions). I also have reteaching strategies and enrichment strategies prepared in case learners are at different learning progressions with fractions.

****following this lesson, learners are encouraged to enroll in "Twizzler Fractions" or "Candy Fractions" if proficient with this lesson.
***if learner needs a reteach lesson on this class, they are encouraged to enroll in a tutoring lesson that I offer one-on-one.
