In this one-time class, learners will gain a better understanding of basic fractions such as 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 and 1/8. Students will discover that fractions can be simple and fun by using donuts, popsicles, bananas and pizza.
Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 2
Students will discover that fractions can be simple and fun. Students will learn, "What is a fraction?" They will learn the placement of the numerator and denominator. They will learn how to form basic fractions by breaking 1 whole object into multiple parts (1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6 and 1/8). We will examine fractions through pizza, popsicles, donuts and even corn. This is a beginner level class with no prior knowledge of fractions needed. They can bring a food item of choice and at the end of...
- Students will gain a basic understanding of fractions. Students will be able to locate the numerator and denominator and by the end of class they will be able to create their own simple fractions.
I was a homeschooling Mom of 2 boys for over 4 years. Fractions were a major aspect of our homeschool days. I love teaching kids in a way that makes learning fun and easy.
Learners may bring a food item of choice that can easily be formed into a fraction.
