In this 4th-grade math ongoing course, students will learn fourth-grade math skills, as outlined by the Common Core State Standards. We will learn about multiplication and division, factors and multiples, patterns, reading, writing and rounding numbers, fractions and much more - students will be exposed to each of the fourth-grade math standards. They will get to practice these skills with a licensed elementary school teacher in a low-stress and friendly environment. This class is perfect for students who need additional practice with the skills that they are learning in their fifth-grade classroom, students who need to review fifth-grade math skills, or fourth-grade students who want to get ahead for the coming school year. Students can join AT ANY TIME. Skills will be taught in isolation and new learners are always welcome. If you do not see a time that works for you on the schedule, please REQUEST A TIME and I will do my best to help meet your scheduling needs. Class structure: ⭐Students are introduced to the objective of the week. ⭐Teacher models the skill using examples and manipulative (if applicable) ⭐Whole group practice of the skill using the weekly printables, Zoom whiteboard, and other websites, when applicable. ⭐Independent practice/continued whole group support ⭐When time allows, students will engage in a game to practice the week's skill (Boom Cards, Kahoot) I also encourage students to find real-world connections to the skills that we are learning in class. When students can make meaningful connections to the materials that we are learning in class, such as how they might use the skill in real life, they are more likely to be engaged and retain the information. I always allow students to share their strategies, questions, thoughts, and ideas throughout the class. Promoting a supportive and inclusive classroom is of utmost importance in order to allow students to grow as independent thinkers. Because this is an ongoing course, students MAY JOIN AT ANY TIME. The concepts are taught in isolation. However, students should be able to add/subtract/multiply/divide basic facts or should have a math tool available that allows them to make these calculations (such as a multiplication chart). There are multiple sections of this ongoing course available. Please refer to the sections below to find out where we are in the curriculum for the section that you are interested in. **If you are looking for this course in a multi-day, trimester, or flex format, please check my class listings page. I have this full curriculum math course available all formats to accommodate schedule and students.** Curriculum Overview: Understanding Place Value (up to 1,000,000) Comparing & Ordering Whole Numbers Rounding Whole Numbers Adding & Subtracting Multi-Digit Numbers Estimating & Problem-Solving with Addition & Subtraction Understanding Multiplication & Division (Arrays, Equal Groups, & Repeated Addition/Subtraction) Multiplying by 1-Digit Numbers Multiplying by 2-Digit Numbers Understanding Division with Remainders Long Division (1-Digit Divisors) Multiplication & Division Word Problems Factors & Multiples (LCM & GCF Introduction) Prime & Composite Numbers Number Patterns & Rules Understanding Fractions (Equivalence & Comparison) Adding & Subtracting Fractions with Like Denominators Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions Multiplying Fractions by Whole Numbers Understanding Decimals (Tenths & Hundredths) Comparing & Ordering Decimals Converting Fractions & Decimals Understanding & Converting Customary & Metric Units Elapsed Time & Word Problems Money & Making Change Angles & Classifying Shapes Perimeter & Area of Rectangles & Irregular Shapes Lines, Line Segments, Rays, & Symmetry Interpreting Graphs (Bar Graphs, Line Plots, & Pictographs) Basic Probability & Data Analysis Fall 2025-26 Session will being the week of 9/8 🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁🍁 Week 1 (9/8) – Understanding Place Value (up to 1,000,000) Week 2 (9/15) – Comparing & Ordering Whole Numbers Week 3 (9/22) – Rounding Whole Numbers Week 4 (9/29) – Adding & Subtracting Multi-Digit Numbers Week 5 (10/6) – Estimating & Problem-Solving with Addition & Subtraction Week 6 (10/13) – Understanding Multiplication & Division (Arrays, Equal Groups, & Repeated Addition/Subtraction) Week 7 (10/20) – Multiplying by 1-Digit Numbers Week 8 (10/27) – Multiplying by 2-Digit Numbers Week 9 (11/3) – Understanding Division with Remainders Week 10 (11/10) – Long Division (1-Digit Divisors) Week 11 (11/17) – Multiplication & Division Word Problems Week 12 (11/24) – Factors & Multiples (LCM & GCF Introduction) Week 13 (12/1) – Prime & Composite Numbers Week 14 (12/8) – Number Patterns & Rules Week 15 (12/15) – Understanding Fractions (Equivalence & Comparison) Week 16 (1/5) – Adding & Subtracting Fractions with Like Denominators Week 17 (1/12) – Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions Week 18 (1/19) – Multiplying Fractions by Whole Numbers Week 19 (1/26) – Understanding Decimals (Tenths & Hundredths) Week 20 (2/2) – Comparing & Ordering Decimals Week 21 (2/9) – Converting Fractions & Decimals Week 22 (2/16) – Understanding & Converting Customary & Metric Units Week 23 (2/23) – Elapsed Time & Word Problems Week 24 (3/2) – Money & Making Change Week 25 (3/9) – Angles & Classifying Shapes Week 26 (3/16) – Perimeter & Area of Rectangles & Irregular Shapes Week 27 (3/23) – Lines, Line Segments, Rays, & Symmetry Unit 7: Data & Probability Week 28 (3/30) – Interpreting Graphs (Bar Graphs, Line Plots, & Pictographs) Week 29 (4/6) – Basic Probability & Data Analysis Week 30 (4/13) – Cumulative Review & Real-World Applications

Massachusetts Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello, and welcome to Outschool! My name is Ms. Kristin. I am a licensed elementary school teacher with my Masters Degree in Elementary Education for grades 1-6. I absolutely love teaching! I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5 in a brick-and-mortar school for over eight years and have been teaching online, too, for the past four years. As a classroom teacher, I have become very familiar with elementary subjects for grades 1-5 and their corresponding standards in math, English, reading, writing, science, social studies, and test prep. Familiarity with different grade levels allows me to differentiate my instruction and guide students to higher levels of thinking as they master grade-level concepts and seek to enhance their skills. My lessons are based on Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Educational Philosophy:
I believe that students succeed when they are engaged, valued, and when lessons are personalized in some way to each individual student. During each lesson, I use positive reinforcement and gentle guidance to ensure students feel safe sharing their ideas. I strive to foster an inclusive and relaxed classroom environment and encourage students to participate, learn from each other, and have fun with the materials.
I am excited to get the opportunity to teach your child, and hope to see them in the classroom soon!
