Description
Class Experience
This is a class for students who have mastered fundamental language skills (foundational reading for comprehension, with fluency) and are ready to build on these skills to become fluent readers and comprehend what they are reading. In this course, we will focus on reading, vocabulary, and writing. We will read both fiction and nonfiction texts (including: biographies; autobiographies; books about history, social studies, science, and the arts; technical texts; and literary nonfiction.)...
Students will gain comprehension and understanding of increasingly complex texts. Students will gain vocabulary skills, both with the meaning of the word and spelling of the word. Students will understand and practice various grammar rules. We will practice writing for different purposes.
I have Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from Rowan University. I have 25 years of experience in the classroom ages 3-11. I have taught in public and private schools in the United States and I taught for 10 years at the International School of Hamburg in Germany. I have been on Outschool for several years.
Students will have vocabulary practice homework once a week.

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
