Class Experience

US Grade 5
Hello! Welcome to Math,Math, Math! This multi week course will meet for eight weeks for an hour a week. This class is geared towards 10-11 year olds; however, those who have an interest in math or are in the fourth grade but going into fifth grade next school year are also welcomed as we will be covering 5th grade math topics. I try my best to make the class a fun learning environment and make math as fun as I can! At the end of the nine weeks, students will complete an assessment that goes through what we learned.
Week 1: Introduction and learning about multiplication facts

Week 2: Learning about place value up to millions and down to ten-thousandths

Week 3: How to convert decimals to fractions, fractions to decimals, comparing decimals

Week 4: Adding and subtracting fractions with like/unlike denominators

Week 5: Adding and subtracting mixed numbers with like/unlike denominators

Week 6: Multiplying and dividing mixed numbers

Week 7: Converting units of length within the customary system

Week 8: Converting units of weight within the customary system

Week 9: Assessment

**I believe that this schedule can change at any time. For example, if the students have mastered a topic then we will begin learning a new topic; however, if the students are still struggling with a topic then we have the flexibility to make sure that they master it before we move on.**

Teacher expertise and credentials
1. I'll be teaching various subjects such as math, social studies, and reading/writing!

2. I am currently a 5th grade teacher and this is my very first year teaching. Prior to having this position, I was a substitute teacher in several school districts as well as a school-age teacher at a daycare.

3. I intend to give your child a positive experience in the class by assisting them academically but also help them become better boys and girls. My intention is to leave a positive impact on them and hope they are able to take something away from my classes.

4. This is my very first year teaching and I moved 9.5 hours away from my hometown in Pennsylvania to South Carolina
