Four Weeks of One-On-One Private Violin Lessons for All Levels and Abilities

Whether you've brand new to the violin or you've been playing for years, this one-on-one class will help you get where you want to go with your violin!

All lessons and the pacing of learning new skills and music are completely customized to the learner. For brand-new beginners, I normally teach with a Suzuki-blended approach (using Suzuki Violin School books and methods), but I also have experience teaching with other method books, including All For Strings, Essential Elements for Strings, and A Tune A Day. For students who are at an intermediate or advanced level, etudes and repertoire are selected based on the student's current level and future goals. We will set our goals for this 4-week class either before or during our first meeting. 

Topics and skills covered can include (depending on student's level): instrument care, proper violin and bow hold, techniques and troubleshooting for producing a good tone, left-hand fingering technique, playing music by rote or by ear, reading music, music theory, bowings and articulations (including legato, staccato, portato, spiccato, etc.), vibrato, shifting and playing in higher positions, double stops, performance preparation, and audition preparation. 

I believe that the main reason anyone takes the time to learn an instrument is to play beautiful music that they personally enjoy, so lessons for beginners are designed to put the focus on reaching the first goal of playing a real song, and as students advance, exercises, scales, and etudes are introduced to help develop the skills needed to play even more beautiful music.
