This course will teach the basics of sports recreation, with a particular focus on leadership, marketing, mission, vision, event management, planning and budgeting, facility design, law, and ethics. Students will have a lecture/discussion style class meeting with weekly assignments and course project due online. I have coached numerous sports over the past 30 years on various levels and have been a certified referee. Assisted with Special Olympics and adaptive sports. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA in Sports Management. I also hold a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses. Furthermore, I have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning center. I was a college athlete and have a passion for sports!
Homework Offered
Students will have an average of three short answer questions due each week and a portion of the course project. The final project is due two days after the close of the course allowing time for final questions and additional information covered in the final session. Students can due research online to help answer questions. No specific text is required.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
