In this 12 week course, we will follow the curriculum for "Foundations in Personal Finance for High School Students" by Dave Ramsey. This class will be taught in the Zoom classroom, using a number of methods including teacher-led lecture, as well as using videos from the "Foundations in Personal Finance for High School Students" to help enhance student understanding of the topics being taught by the teacher. Additionally, the teacher will utilize the Outschool Classroom for the posting of...
Students will learn and understand how to manage money and build wealth in order to set themselves up for successful financial futures. We will do this by examining all of the major topics in personal finance including but not limited to debt, investing, giving, taxes, and budgeting. Students will seek to apply the knowledge that they gain through a wide variety of activities including setting financial goals, building a budget, and setting plans for investing and retirement.
I have a Master of Business Administration. I have 3 years of experience teaching business, economics, and finance classes at the Junior/Career college level, in addition to 3 years of classroom experience teaching middle and high school students, and 1 year of experience as an elementary & middle school principal. Finally, I have 4 four years experience as a National Football League Players Association Certified Contract Advisor, during which time I negotiated contracts, as well as helped to educate my clients as to the proper ways to prepare themselves for financial independence after their sports careers had ended. It is this same passion to help young people build financial security and freedom that I enables me to guide students. Additionally, I hold my certificate to teach the Dave Ramsey "Foundations in Personal Finance for High School Students" course.
There will be a number of assignments and tasks that the students will be completing throughout the course. These assignments will be send to and explained by the teacher, from this point the students will be responsible to complete and submit using the Outschool Classroom.
There will be no specific assessment or grade for this class unless previously requested by the parents.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class is taught from a purely secular point of view, only examining the ideas of personal finance and money management.
