Class Experience

This course will focus on the concepts elementary students tend to struggle with in math.  During these eight sessions, we will be focusing on:

   - place value
   - making 10 and  multiples of 10 
   -  counting up and counting back 
   -  understanding and using a number line 

 We will use virtual manipulatives such as:
    - number frames and counters
    - 100, 120, and 200 charts
    - number lines
    - place value blocks

I can also email copies of these manipulatives if requested.

The strategies covered in this class will greatly improve students ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with fluency .   It will greatly enhance their understanding of numbers in general, making math so much easier for them!


 I will also be offering a course on the concepts that upper elementary and middle school students tend to struggle with. These include: 

   - place value
   - decimals
  - fractions and mixed numbers (as well as how to simplify them) and
  - percentages

This will give them the reinforcement they need to continue growing and pushing forward!  Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Supply List

I will be using the share screen tool to share math manipulative tools and visuals.  I will also provide a link to some printouts that the students can use during the lesson if they wish (although this is not a requirement).  You may also want to provide your child with either a pencil and paper or a whiteboard with dry erase markers to use as needed during the lessons.

External Resources

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I am a certified bilingual professional with international experience and a passion for working with all learners, especially those learning English or Spanish as a second language.  I have worked as a dual language elementary school educator in both one-way and two-way immersion programs.  I am so proud of not only the linguistic skills that both my native English-speaking and native Spanish-speaking students have acquired, but also the positive cross-cultural attitudes and behaviors they have developed!  

I have taught children as young as three years old, and adults of all ages.  I find something special about each age.  I have over ten years of experience as a full-time, bilingual elementary school teacher, and began my online teaching adventure in 2017.  I have experience teaching math, language arts, social studies, and science at the elementary school level.  I also teach Spanish, English as a foreign or second language, and mindfulness courses.  I have so much fun connecting with people from all over the world, and I feel so grateful to be an educator!  I love learning and hope to share that love of learning with my current and future students!
