Class Experience

(Parents of Learners who are interested in classes but require special hours due to time zone please feel free to reach out and I will try to accommodate as best I can.)

In this class, we'll go over the foundation of every story: character, conflict, and closure. The characters that drive our stories. The conflicts they need to overcome, and how it all leads to the eventual end.

Day 1 is for Characters where we'll learn about all the different types of character that get created all the time in popular tv shows, movies, and comics. We'll then build a character together using the system I've created to and understand how we influcence the voices inside their heads.

Day 2 will focus on Conflict and Closure.

Conflict will be taught like playing a game. Taking the character we created we'll turn more abstract types of conflict like moving to a new home, bullies, a really hard quiz and turn them into monsters that the main characters have to defeat, where a monster's weakness can be something as simple as a hug or studying real hard.

Finally, we'll discuss endings or more specifically the moral of the story. We'll talk about growth and closure. Most importantly we'll learn that even if a story doesn't have a happy ending, doesn't mean we still can't learn something from it.

Homework will be light and simple. Students will just be asked to create different types of characters and students shouldn't have any problem with that with my easy to follow character sheet.

Learning Goals

Learner's will learn the key elements to creating characters with proper motivations, beliefs, and understanding of their feelings. They'll also learn how conflict can be used to develop characters to help them achieve their goals within their story.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My time as a head writer in Hollywood has provided me a unique system for writing that was developed for the specific purpose in helping writers complete their work. I have different techniques and tricks for different types of writers, a wide range of knowledge in all the different genres and styles of writing, and even developed an objective way to review and provide structured criticism to writers that don't impede on their creative freedom.
