Students will learn about the animals of the Ischigualasto Formation, a prehistory formation that is primarily all about the start of the Late Triassic period. This will primarily focus on earlier dinosaurs like Eoraptor & Herrerasaurus. The topics covered will be the environment of Ischigualasto 231 million years ago. The Carnian Pluvial environmental event that allowed dinosaurs to start to proliferate at this time and begin the steps to their eventual takeover of the planet. The dominant crocodilians of the area, the underdog dinosaurs and the decline of the large Dicynodont reptiles and the rise of giant plants once again after the pluvial event. My class will be structured along the geological history at first, before going up the food up of the animals there. I will teach using a mixture of maps, video clips, discussion and lectures.
