US Grade 4
During this ongoing summer class, students will work on math skills that they will be exposed to in fourth grade. This session will give students the opportunity for review/extra practice of third grade skills, as well as be introduced to new fourth grade math skills. This is a great course for bridging math skills from third to fourth grade. This is also great for scaffolding...I will be here weekly to work through concepts that need extra practice or can challenge students if the need for that arises! We will use note taking, dialogue, practice, slides, games, interactive worksheets and more. Students will interact using discussion and white boards. Students will need the basic math knowledge of a mid year third grader. My teaching style is open ended. I love to use different styles and strategies to reach all different types of learners. The 4th grade concepts that I will introduce, I refer to as pre-loading. I am giving the students the review of 3rd grade concepts, along with the foundational exposure to 4th grade concepts they will see. This is an ongoing class, therefor learners will not need to attend each class, they can jump in and out as necessary. These are the weekly focus areas. Week 1 - Number Sense - Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division (how they relate): Quick Check and Practice For Each Week 2 - Word Problems - Steps to Completing Word Problems Week 3 - Place Value and Rounding Multi Digit Whole Numbers To Any Place Week 4 - Fluently Add and Subtract Multi-Digit Whole Numbers Week 5 - Review Multiplication Facts AND Multiplying Whole Numbers (up to 4 digits) By A One Digit Whole Number Week 6 - Fractions Part 1 Week 7 - Fractions Part 2 Week 8 - Division As It Relates to Multiplication Week 9 - Decimals Week 10 - Full Review and Recap
