In this one time course, students will learn about the order of operations and apply them to Fortnite story problems.

During this class, students will learn about the order of operations also known as PEMDAS (Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction). Students will apply this knowledge to different equations and word problems. Students will learn through class discussion and practice. To begin class, we will watch a video that discusses what PEMDAS is. We will then discuss what the video what was explaining. I will work through a problem with the students. Students will then practice two problems on their own. At the end of the lesson, the students will compete in a Math Fortnite Battle. The students will land on our classroom map and if and answer related math questions to battle and eliminate their other classmates.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the order of operations and be able to answer 4/5 questions right.

Parental Guidance
Although we talk about Fortnite, there will be no violence during the lesson.
Supply List
Nothing needs to be bought but a pencil and paper is suggested.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I think students sometimes struggle with math especially story problems. If the story problems connects to the students lives they are more out to be interested and engaged in the work they are doing. I have taught math in a classroom setting and I believe I have the knowledge and passion to do it here.Reviews
