This social gaming club is designed to help young Fortnite players level up and learn about the game. Students will team up with me to complete quest in Battle Royale Matches. During this time we will learn how to play the game. We will focus on looting, building, and teamwork. Students will learn problem solving skills and how to be strategic. We will work as a team to complete challenges (quest) and win matches. After each match we will reflect and discuss what went well and what we could improve on. We will work together to help each other grow and become critical thinkers and problem solvers. Students will need to have a basic knowledge of playing a gaming system (PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, or PS4/PS5). Students will also need to have played Fortnite at least one time before. We will zoom on a separate device from the console. We always start off with Battle Royal (duos, trios, or squads). If we don't have time for a full match near the end of class we will do a fun creative mode instead! Note: class may go differently depending on what learners would like to focus on for the class session. For example, we may play Lego Fortnite or racing along with normal matches. 12-3: Discuss the new chapter and season. Discuss new loot and areas. Work on building and leveling up 12-10: Discuss new battlepass. Discuss favorite new items and areas. Work on building tips and leveling 12-17: Work on Winterfest event. Discuss in game items. Teacher expertise and credentials
South Carolina Teaching Certificate
I have played video games ever since I was a child and always found the value in them. I believe games can teach students how to think critically and problem solve. I have played Fortnite for about four years and I am no expert but I strive to get better each day. I am also an elementary school teacher and I work with students on a daily basis. I started playing in chapter 2 season 2.
