Class Experience
The goal of Forensic Handwriting is to pinpoint and answer questions about a suspicious document. In order to determine authorship or the suspect of a crime, there are a variety of methods used. Each of us has a unique handwriting. Our Handwriting is as unique as a fingerprint. In this course, we will examine all aspects of handwriting, forgery, counterfeiting and how criminals use it to attempt to get away with a crime. Teacher Videos, PowerPoint, Course Videos, and Handouts will be posted Weekly, at the beginning of each week. This course also functions in Central Time Zone. **Week 1 Handwriting Analysis We will dive deep into analyzing handwriting of a suspect and Forensic Linguistics. Forensic Linguistic examines written and vocal evidence to aid law enforcement determine the actual truth and what the evidence given really means. -Analyzing a Suspect Handwriting (Size, Slopes, Pressure, characteristics) -How Handwriting Can Solve a Crime -Examine Ink and Paper -Technology in Handwriting Analysis -Forensic Linguistics During this week, students will participate in several discussion post about Handwriting analysis, view videos, and PowerPoints. Students will also participate in an engaging activity towards the end of the week where they will try to match handwriting samples and analyze handwriting from a suspect! **Week 2 Forgery -Fraud Techniques -Check Fraud & How it can be Stopped - Art Forgery & How its detected (We will examine a well known Artist forgery and how it was detected) During this week, students will participate in several discussion post about Forgery, view videos, and PowerPoints. Towards the end of the week, students will research a forgery case and discover the evidence that played a HUGE role in solving the case. This will be due at the end of the course! This week, we will also complete a WebQuest that will review what we learned in Week 1 & Week 2. **Week 3 Document Analysis -Determine the Author of a document -Ink used and Paper. Why does it matter? -Document Forgery This week is super packed! At the end of the week, students will engage in a fun activity where they will be tasked with forgery! This will give students hands on experience of what forgery looks like, concepts, ways it can be made, and detecting it. **Week 4 Counterfeit -Counterfeit Money -Detecting Counterfeit Money -Counterfeit Products -Review Final Test & Project This week, students will participate in several discussion post about Counterfeit, view videos, and PowerPoints. Students will then take the seat of a Forensic Document Analyst and analyze a document!

Throughout this course, handwriting is depicted using imagery. We will also view 2 Forensic Files videos that depict the analysis of handwriting in a murder. Please feel free to reach out if you would like substitution for a particular topic/week. Articles are condensed and edited to make the reading of material appropriate for Middle to high school students

I am a Licensed Educator. Alongside my credentials to teach, I also hold a Masters of Science in Criminal and Social Justice. I currently teach two online Criminal Justice Courses (college). I have been teaching Criminal Justice classes online for a little over four years. I have a strong passion for Forensic Science as well as Education
