Welcome to Forensic Science: Psychology - Serial Killers and Disorders! A serial killer is classified by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) as a person who murders three or more people. The killings usually are in service of an abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month and including a significant break or a "cooling off period" between them. **Teacher Videos, Course Videos, and Handouts will be posted Weekly! During each week, students will participate in 1:1 classroom discussions with peers and teacher. Discussion prompts and questions will be posted daily. All needed handouts will be provided alongside links to videos posted at the start of each week! **Week 1 At a Glance -Motivations of Crime (PPT) (What Leads People to Kill?) -Revenge Killing -Gang Activity -Political Reasons -Religious Fundamentalism -Teen Crime Class Activity 1: As a class, we will complete introduction questions to help activate any prior knowledge. Students will work as a group with daily teacher input. Homework: Complete Killer Profile 1, 2, 3 **Week 2 At a Glance Mental state before/during/after crime (Psychological Reasons) PPT -Paranoid Psychosis/Psychotic Episodes -Psychopaths & Sociopaths (Shared Traits) How Do They Diverge? Activity: Crossword Puzzle! Who Did It! -Mental State and the Ability to stand trial. What determines their ability to stand trial? Homework: Complete Killer Profile 4, 5 6 **Week 3 At a Glance Serial, Mass, and Spree Killers! (PPT) -How do some killers become classified as serial, mass, and spree killers -Killer Analysis -Behavior/Disorder Profiling Your Turn! Class Activity 2: Serial, Mass, and Spree Killers Graphic Organizer Game! This assignment will be completed in groups. Students are given a profile. After studying each profile and completing the WebQuest, students will then complete the Graphic Organizer that is profiling the killer according to behavior. Homework: Complete Killer Profile 7, 8, 9 **Week 4 At a Glance -Review, Review, Review! -Class Activity 3: Complete Last Killer Profile-10! As a class, we will complete our last killer profile! Students can work as a group with daily teacher input -Forensic Science: Psychology - Serial Killers and Disorders Quiz

I am a Licensed Educator. Alongside my credentials to teach, I also hold a Masters of Science in Criminal and Social Justice. I currently teach two online Criminal Justice Courses AND Psychology(college). I have been teaching Criminal Justice and Psychology classes online for a little over four years. I have a strong passion for Forensic Science as well as Education.
