Advanced Level
In this 12-week course, students will have a deeper look into forensic science and evidence collection techniques; this is a high school level course and is excellent for student who are interested in taking an even closer look into forensic science. Students will need to have taken my first forensic science course in order to gain a forensic science foundation before taking this course or currently enrolled in the first course (we will not be repeating previous material):

Over the weeks students will take a deeper look into the following subjects: 

Week 1: Hair, Fiber, and Textile Analysis 
(The Murder of Elizabeth Ballard, Pet Hair DNA Evidence, Wrong by a Hair, and Cold Case Murders solved using Hair, Fiber or Textile)

Week 2: Forensic Palynology
(1959 Austria Case, Bella Bond, and More)

Week 3: Fingerprints
(The Farrow Case, Carroll Bonnett, and More)

Week 4: Blood 
(Steve Avery, Lindy Chamberlain, and More)

Week 5: Drug and Toxicology
(Jonestown Massacre, Harold Shipman, and More)

Week 6: Human Decomposition and Anthropology
(James Ridgeway and Missing Persons Cases)

Week 7: Forensic Geology & Entomology
(Aldo Moro, John Dodson, and More)

Week 8: Glass Evidence, Impressions, and Ballistics
(Tracy Tomko, Ted Bundy, and More)

Week 9:  Handwriting Analysis, Forgery, and Counterfeiting
(Robert Durst, Shaun Greenhalgh, and More)

Week 10: DNA
(Oldest Cold Case Ever Solved plus many other cases) 

Week 11: Mishandled Forensic Cases
(OJ Simpson, Cameron Willingham, Amanda Knox, and More)

Week 12: Students will Present Case Studies 
(Students will share their case file projects and then we will review)

A case study review questionnaire will be available for students each week and it is optional to complete - This course will be presented using a PowerPoint presentation, audio and video clips will be used when necessary.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
This course is designed to teach students about cases associated with forensic science fundamentals and investigation techniques; the content will include the study of dead bodies, insects, blood, gun and bullet analysis, as well as fingerprinting and DNA. Students will see body parts of victims such as a back, foot, or even legs; I will censor faces or abused victims.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
