I am a trained AP Social Science/history teacher at a Title I high school in the Bay Area, California. I have taught middle and high school, so I am trained to facilitate students' discussion. The class will make sure that norms for discussion are established, and students are appropriately primed if any sensitive topics come up.
None as this is discussion-based.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Current events may cover a range of different topics in the US and the world, so make sure students are prepared for potential topics like politics or government. The teacher is a trained classroom teacher, so students will be primed appropriately if sensitive topics come up (discussion guides, norms for discussion, etc).
NY Times and other news sources will be used.
